Lifted Art: @Killeracid

When I find cool art I like to share it.
Herb and leaf, a way of life
Pills and meth, an early death
A couple years ago I became familiar with artist Killeracid on Twitter, since then he’s been blowing my mind with his trippy-as-fuck illustrations. I love the bright colors and intricate detailing he uses. Much of his art does seem to be inspired by the green goddess Mary Jane, which is pretty chill. This piece is from the #Smokedexzine a project that is slowly rolling out.
Check out his shop and definitely give him a follow on IG: @killeracid + Twitter: @killeracid

D.R.A.M. feat Travis Barker “Broccoli” on Conan

D.R.A.M. was recently on Conan and teamed up with Travis Barker for a special performance of one of the biggest songs of 2016 so far. What D.R.A.M. gave us was a slowed up version of “Broccoli” sans the gawd Lil Yachty. Barker, wearing a “Thank God For Punk Rock” shirt added his own steez to the track and gave us a sizzling track that’s just as uplifting as the original. All we’re missing is Yachty playing the recorder. (via)

Pot legalization movement seeks first foothold in Northeast

BOSTON — Having proven they can win in the West, advocates for recreational marijuana hope the Nov. 8 election brings their first significant electoral victories in the densely populated Northeast, where voters in Massachusetts and Maine will consider making pot legal for all adults.
Supporters believe “yes” votes in New England would add geographical diversity to the legalization map, encourage other East Coast states to move in the same direction and perhaps build momentum toward ending federal prohibitions on the drug.
“We have to get to a point where we can win legalization voter initiatives in other parts of the country,” said Keith Stroup, founder of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, or NORML, a leading group in the legalization movement.
Three other states — California, Arizona and Nevada — are also voting on recreational pot. If the California initiative passes, marijuana will be legal along the entire West Coast. Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Al..

Some question Pendleton’s marijuana odor ordinance

PENDLETON, Ore. — City officials say Pendleton’s marijuana odor ordinance is necessary, but some residents say the law is bound to bring trouble.
The East Oregonian reports that the Pendleton City Council in June passed an ordinance prohibiting “unreasonable” amounts of marijuana odors from leaving a property and entering another.
Pendleton attorney Will Perkinson says the ordinance is too vague and it doesn’t distinguish between medical and recreational marijuana or properly establish the level of odor a marijuana smell would need to reach to be considered harmful.
Since the odor law went into effect, there have been two cases where it has been enforced.
The City Council has not reconsidered the ordinance, but the planning commission is set to consider zoning regulations for marijuana retailers at a meeting Thursday.

Pot laws still hazy in workplace

WASHINGTON — After getting busted himself, Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes said it’s time for Americans to have an “overdue conversation” about marijuana in the workplace.
On July 8, 2014, the first day that retail stores began selling marijuana in Washington state, Holmes went to Cannabis City in Seattle and plopped down $80 for two 2-gram bags of weed. Then he went back to his office and put the drugs on his desk, not realizing that even though his purchase was legal under state law he had just violated the city’s drug-free workplace policy.
“It was a completely inadvertent violation, but it was a violation nonetheless,” said Holmes, who apologized and fined himself $3,000, donating the money to Seattle’s downtown emergency services.
If prosecutors can’t keep up with the maze of competing marijuana laws these days, one might forgive regular folks who feel a little hazy about them.
And workplace attorneys said the issue promises to become even more puzzling for employers and emp..

Pot industry created 18K jobs in Colorado in 2015

In 2015, the legal marijuana industry in Colorado created more than 18,000 new full-time jobs and generated $2.4 billion in economic activity, according to a first-of-its-kind analysis of the economics of legal cannabis in the state.
The study, conducted by the economic consulting firm Marijuana Policy Group, is based on two years of sales numbers from the state of Colorado. It measured both the direct effects of legalization — including close to $1 billion in retail sales in 2015 — and the industry’s spillover effects on the Colorado economy.
These indirect impacts of marijuana legalization came from increased demand on local goods and services: growers rent warehouse space and purchase sophisticating lighting and irrigation equipment, for instance. Marijuana retailers similarly rely on other companies, like contractors, lawyers and book-keeping services, to conduct their own businesses.
“If this is done right, regulated right, taxed right, this industry can bring real economic ben..

OLCC Deems Strain Names Unsuitable For Children

Oregon, what’s going on?
Earlier this month the OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission) reviewed 500 strain names, and out of the 500 they deemed 20 of them inappropriate because they appeal to minors. Because of this names like Charlotte’s Web, or Girl Scout Cookies won’t be allowed on the labels or packaging of medical or recreational cannabis.
Here’s the literature from the bulletin via the OLCC: September 23, 2016 ‐ Today, the OLCC passed a temporary rule that clarifies the restrictions on product wording commonly associated with products marketed by or to children. The Commission’s current rules allow it to regulate marijuana strain names attractive to minors but not those marketed by minors such as “girl scout cookies”. The action directs staff at OLCC to fairly implement criteria to restrict a narrow set of strain names that refer to cartoon characters, or are names associated with toys and games marketed to or by children.
The Commissioners and OLCC staff have reviewed a l..

***This review previously appeared on the Cannabis Daily Record***
Reviewer: Mrs. Nice Guy
Strain Name (Genetics, etc.): Marley Natural Green Hybrid (Burmese Kush)

Onset time: Felt a wave of calm kick in about 10-12 minutes in

Investors anxious as Oregonians again vote on marijuana

Last year, Golden Leaf Holdings, a leading cannabis company, paid $3.3 million for almost 100 acres of land in Oregon to build a marijuana growing, processing and research site.
The future looked bright: Oregon voters had legalized recreational marijuana in 2014. But Measure 91 gave counties and towns the opportunity to opt out and ban pot businesses.
Days after Golden Leaf signed the papers on the property in Marion County near the town of Aurora, the county banned marijuana businesses in unincorporated areas. So did about 100 other towns and counties.
“That shut us out completely out of the recreational market, which was our original strategy,” said Beau Whitney, a Golden Leaf vice president.
Now, Golden Leaf has another chance. Marion County is one of about 50 Oregon towns and counties that will decide in the Nov. 8 election whether to opt back into the marijuana business, according to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, which regulates and licenses the industry.
Other states..

Blast rocks legal marijuana business in Astoria, sends 2 to burn unit

PORTLAND — Two people working in a marijuana processing business in Astoria were taken to Legacy Oregon Burn Center late Wednesday after an explosion rocked the building.
The blast – the first involving a legal cannabis enterprise in Oregon — remains under investigation but early indications point to butane as a possible cause, officials said.
The business, Higher Level Concentrates, uses the highly volatile gas to make hash oil. The explosion is under investigation by Oregon OSHA, an agency whose mission is worker safety and health.
Two OSHA compliance officers were dispatched to the scene Thursday, said Aaron Corvin, an agency spokesman, who stressed the inquiry is in its early stages.
Higher Level Concentrates is on the Oregon Health Authority’s list of 127 state-authorized marijuana processors who can make oil for the medical marijuana market.
The business also has submitted its application for a processor license to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, the agency overseeing ..

Business owners replace idealists in legalization movement

DENVER — Business owners are replacing idealists in the pot-legalization movement as the nascent marijuana industry creates a broad base of new donors, many of them entrepreneurs willing to spend to change drug policy.
Unlike in the past, these supporters are not limited to a few wealthy people seeking change for personal reasons. They constitute a bigger coalition of business interests. And their support provides a significant financial advantage for pro-legalization campaigns.
“It’s mainly a social-justice movement. But undoubtedly there are business interests at work, which is new in this movement,” said Kayvan Khalatbari, a one-time pot-shop owner and now head of a Denver marijuana consulting firm.
The donors offer a wider foundation of support for the marijuana-related measures on the ballot next month in nine states. The campaigns are still largely funded by national advocacy organizations such as the Drug Policy Alliance, the Marijuana Policy Project and the New Approach PAC…

Massachusetts marijuana vote could mean legalization across New England

HARTFORD, Conn. — As a multimillion-dollar fight over recreational marijuana in Massachusetts races toward the finish line, both sides of the debate in Connecticut are keeping a close eye on a vote that could open the door to legalization across New England.
Massachusetts is one of five states where measures to legalize and regulate the sale of recreational marijuana will be on the ballot. Voters in Arizona, California, Maine and Nevada will also vote on the issue. An affirmative vote in Maine or Massachusetts would bring legal recreational marijuana to the region for the first time, putting new pressure on those in the state that oppose expanded marijuana use.
Jill Spineti, president and CEO of the Governor’s Prevention Partnership, said her group wasn’t yet willing to shift the dialogue from opposing recreational marijuana use to figuring out the best way to regulate it. At the same time she acknowledged how legal cannabis across the border would complicate that fight.
“We’re stay..

Product Review: Marley Natural Rolling Tray (Small) For Cannabis Daily Record

**This post first appeared on the Cannabis Daily Record**
The Marley Natural small rolling tray is made out of sustainably grown American Black Walnut wood. It’s sleek design and rustic look are pleasing to the eye and gives off a more sophisticated vibe when being used.
The small rolling tray is about 9 inches long giving you the perfect amount of room to break down your buds, rolling them into a joint or blunt. The bottom right corner has a specially contoured cutout that’s designed for easy pouring while the magnetic scraper helps you gather your product for preparation.
Rolling trays should be a part of every tokers repertoire. Using magazines to roll is so passe, why not get yourself something that will give you a stable surface to roll on? The tray also come in handy when you’re not rolling. Personally I smoke most out of my bong, but would still like to keep my desk, coffee table, or counters clean when I’m toking, the Marley Natural rolling tray does a great job at being a m..

Doctors likely more worried about weight than pot use

Doctors in the United States are not terribly concerned about your marijuana use, according to a study published recently in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Researchers presented a representative sample of 233 primary-care physicians with nine hypothetical patient behaviors — tobacco use, alcohol use, obesity, etc. — and asked them how much of a problem they thought these behaviors were on a 10-point scale. Their goal was to suss out differences in doctors’ attitudes and treatment behaviors based on their political affiliation.
Among the nine behaviors, doctors rated marijuana use as the least-worrisome behavior, tied with abortion as an area of concern. By contrast, doctors rated not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle and having intercourse with sex workers several times a year as the most problematic behaviors on the list.
The doctors rated alcohol use, tobacco use and obesity as significantly more pressing issues, health-wise, than marijuana use.

Recreational pot shops licensed in Oregon, now set to open

SALEM, Ore. — Starting on Saturday, Oregonians can buy marijuana for recreational use at shops intended for that purpose.
The Oregon Liquor Control Commission announced on Friday it has approved licenses for 26 retailers around the state, meeting a key deadline almost two years after voters passed a ballot measure legalizing pot.
“It’s a pretty exciting day for the OLCC,” Steven Marks, the executive director of the commission charged with regulating recreational marijuana, said in a conference call with journalists. He said 12 recreational retailers can start operating as soon as Saturday.
October had been set as the month in which retail store licensing would start under an OLCC timeline. Medical marijuana stores have been permitted to sell recreational marijuana since last October. Such dispensaries won’t be allowed to sell to recreational users after Dec. 31.
The approved retail shops are located in the Portland area, and in southern, central and western Oregon, including along ..

Colo. requires pot edibles to carry stamp of approval

DENVER — Wondering if that brownie contains pot? Colorado has you covered.
A requirement that edible marijuana products come with a diamond-shaped stamp and the letters T-H-C — not just on the packaging but on the brownies, candies and other edibles themselves — took effect Saturday.
The rule referencing marijuana’s psychoactive ingredient was added after complaints that the treats look too much like their nonintoxicating counterparts. It is the first such requirement in any legal weed state.
Colorado’s new “universal symbol” for foods that contain marijuana is designed to give the treats a distinct look even after they’re out of the packaging. In other words, a pot cookie being passed around a high school cafeteria no longer will look so innocent, giving parents a way to identify marijuana edibles without smelling or tasting them.
The stamping requirement comes in addition to exhaustive labeling and packaging rules that include child-proof zippers and lids, along with warnings tha..

Music To Smoke To: A Kid Named Cudi Mixtape

Ever since Kid Cudi went in on ‘Ye and Drake, I’ve had Mr. Solo Dolo on my mind.
After his Twitter rant a discussion was started about what contribution Kid Cudi had to hip-hop since his debut. Some people claimed that though he wasn’t the greatest, he did help usher in a new sound to the genre – something I wholeheartedly agree with. Others were more focused on the fact that he hasn’t had a hit in sometime, so who was he to address Mr. Kardashian that way?
I remember riding the bus to work at 6 am traveling to a job I couldn’t stand, but had to deal with to pay the bills. I’d get hella wake n’ baked, and just let the weed and Cudi’s lyrics envelope my whole being. It was a morning ritual, bong hits to the face and then self reflection as I let Cudi’s lyrics guide me. At this point in time no other rappers (that I had heard of) were throwing Band of Horses, Ratatat, or Paul Simon on a sample and pouring out their soul. Being vulnerable wasn’t cool. A Kid Named Cudi had a different so..

Yakima pot producers step past competition to stay in business

Jamie Muffett hopes to keep Sticky Budz, a marijuana producing and processing business he’s running, in operation — and he’s willing to fight to make sure it does.
His business, which employs 16 full-time workers and is located outside Zillah in unincorporated Yakima County, is licensed by the state Liquor and Cannabis Board.
That, Muffett says, should provide county officials and residents assurance that the business is well supervised and in compliance with state laws.
“It’s so incredibly regulated by the LCB, I think that should give everyone peace of mind,” Muffett said at the business one recent morning.
Even so, there’s a threat to Muffett’s business and others like it in Yakima County.
Officials want to start enforcing the county’s 2014 ban on pot businesses in unincorporated areas of the county. Muffett’s dad, Mike Muffett, owns the company and is among more than 20 state-licensed pot businesses operating despite the ban.
Much is at stake for the pot businesses, with mill..
